The mood was cheerful as we gathered for our summer team building in early June. Ready for new experiences and some relaxation, we took a Friday off and went to the mountains. It was all about teamwork - we sought to elevate it with games that were both educational and fun.
Surrounded with beautiful scenery and fresh air, we immersed ourselves in activities that called for cooperation, creative thinking, and precision. We sought to complete fun and engaging tasks as fast as possible, as efficiently as possible. The way to do it was through communication and teamwork. Our long-time partner Brian Pagán led the way. A designer with a degree in psychology and an acting background, he was a wonderful fit for the role.
We started with expressing and understanding emotions, in order to develop a stronger bond. No doubt, a skill that serves one well in both professional and private life. We went on to practice observing things out of their usual context, and finding solutions to a series of challenges. Like in life and work, time for that was limited. Which again underlined the importance of clear and open communication on the team. Other assignments required us to show trust and openness when led by others.
Enjoying the greenery of hills, a thousand meters above sea level with lots of team activities and a lot of time for bonding was a phenomenal experience. We look forward to doing something like this again.
We reflected on our mission statement - From your vision we create success stories - and specific ways we live by it. It is our guiding principle in relationships with clients, and at Infosit.
It goes without saying, but it is worth saying it every now and then - high-performing teams commit to goals, and their members are open to different views. They show acceptance and respect. They have found ways to overcome obstacles and embrace different perspectives. They are able to work out fantastic solutions.
After dinner there was time for cards, cocktails and guitar playing. Our accommodation for the night was simple and cozy, in harmony with nature. There was no trace of technology wonders or jacuzzi in rooms. Breakfast in the mountains was a new source of joy; we used the remaining hours to soak up nature's purest energy.
Stay around, there is more to come! Soon we will unveil the taglines that Infositters came up with for this year's team-building. It will be interesting to see how skilled our engineers, developers, and analysts are when it comes to marketing :)
Finding our team's core values (a healthy lifestyle and the work-life balance) a big deal? Work & have fun with the rest of the team.
